John Craig is an American indie pop artist based in Portland, Oregon. John's solo project "John Craig & The Weekend" was formed in Portland in 2009. Craig gained notoriety in the Portland music scene for his 2009 single "Ticking" which was featured in the motion picture Tucker & Dale vs. Evil (2010 Sundance Film Festival Selection) Sundance Film Festival)〔Sundance Film Festival http://sundance.bside.com/2010/films/tuckerdalevsevil_sundance2010〕 along with "Trouble." The film also screened at the 2010 South by Southwest Music & Film Festival (SXSW).〔SXSW Music & Film Festival http://horrorsnotdead.com/wpress/2010/tucker-dale-vs-evil-review-sxsw-review-catch-up/〕 John's debut ''Umlaut'' EP has garnered industry buzz thanks in part to reviews by the Willamette Week,〔Willamette Week http://wweek.com/events/3604/music〕 Rob Cullivan of the Portland Tribune,〔Portland Tribune http://www.portlandtribune.com/features/story.php?story_id=125979162366485600〕 and (Andy Valentine of the Eugene Weekly ). "Ticking" has also been prominently featured on Portland's 94.7 KNRK and 101.9 KINK.

On June 8, 2010 Craig released dual-singles ''Ghosts'' with b-side ''The Fall Out'' and ''Broken Branches'' exclusively on iTunes. The singles were released for wide reaching digital distribution in July 2010. "Broken Branches / IED / Kandahar" is a nearly 13-minute three-part epic with a commentary on today's current war culture. 100% of net proceeds from the downloads of ''Broken Branches'' go to benefit the Open Prosthetics Project.
John debuted an acoustic version of "Broken Branches" on Eugene, OR's 91.9 KRVM〔91.9 KRVM http://5oclock-world-playlists.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2010-04-17T21%3A22%3A00-07%3A00&max-results=3〕 on April 9, 2010 along with an acoustic version of "Promises" off of 2009's ''Umlaut'' EP. John's song "Ticking" has also been tapped by Tommy Hilfiger as the music for their online and in-store ad campaign called "Meet The Hilfigers.".〔"(Meet The Hilfigers )" - A one-year online and in-store ad campaign running from August 2010 through August 2011〕 The campaign began in August 2010 and runs through August 2011.
John Craig & The Weekend's debut full-length, ''Numbers'', was recorded in early 2011 at Cloud City Studios in Portland, OR. The album was co-produced, engineered and mixed by Craig and (Justin Phelps ) (CAKE, Mars Volta, Galactic). The LP is slated for release on Loophole Records on August 30, 2011.
